The Russian foreign minister has stressed the importance of dialogue between Moscow and New Delhi at the highest level
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Russia this year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
Lavrov's remarks came in a video address to the international conference 'Russia and India: To the New Agenda of Bilateral Relations'.
"According to the results of the visit of President [Vladimir] Putin to New Delhi in December last year, the consonance of the strategic goals of Russia and India was confirmed, a solid package of documents was adopted," Lavrov said.
Lavrov stressed the role of dialogue between Russia and India at the highest level.
Putin made a landmark tenth visit to India in December.
Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, who also addressed the conference on Monday, said Putin's visit had broken new ground, covering diverse and novel areas, including the movement of skilled professionals, health and food safety, maritime cooperation, fertilizers, customs and commerce, and academic and media cooperation.
India and Russia are committed to increasing the present annual trade turnover from $68.7 billion to $100 billion by 2030, in a balanced and sustainable manner, Jaishankar said.
"To this effect, we must continue efforts to conclude the India-EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) FTA, address non-tariff barriers and regulatory impediments, and utilize a skilled Indian workforce," he added.
"I am confident India will find a trusted and reliable partner in Russia to help reach its energy goals," Jaishankar stated.
