T-Wolves Gaming racked up triple-figure point totals in two routs of Knicks Gaming on Wednesday, with the sweep propelling them into first place in the NBA 2K League's Western Conference.
The 104-73 and 100-76 wins lifted the T-Wolves (18-6) past Pacers Gaming (19-7).
In the T-Wolves' first win, Dhwan "ShiftyKaii" White scored 37 points, Xavier "Big Saint" St. John added 29 points and Malik "Slaughter" Leisinger had a triple-double: 14 points, 19 rebounds and 12 assists. Christopher "Duck" Charles led the Knicks with 28 points and 11 assists.
ShiftyKaii put up 36 points in the second game. Malik "OriginalMalik" Hobson topped the Knicks with 22 points while Duck contributed 21 points and 12 assists.
Elsewhere on the opening night of Week 9, Kings Guard Gaming beat Warriors Gaming Squad 84-74 before the Warriors won the rematch 79-70. Blazer5 Gaming and Jazz Gaming split a pair of close games, with Blazer5 winning 88-86 and the Jazz prevailing 75-73. Grizz Gaming swept Magic Gaming 78-73 and 70-62.
The NBA 2K League regular season runs through Aug. 14, with 12 teams in the Eastern Conference and 11 in the Western Conference. The top five teams from each conference advance to the playoffs.
The season includes three tournaments: The Tipoff (May 19-22, won by T-Wolves Gaming), The Turn (July 14-17, won by Hornets Venom GT) and The Ticket (Aug. 19-21). The Ticket will include the 13 teams that didn't automatically qualify for the postseason, and the event's top two finishers will earn playoff berths.
Early rounds of the playoffs are scheduled for Aug. 26-28, and the championship match will be Sept. 4.
